Zebras, Leggings, And Curls, OH MY!

Long time no see, Hippies! School has been really kicking up and I barely have time to sleep. But, I have resolved to update more often. Or I'm at least going to try! So here is an outfit I've had since the fall (YIKES!) and am finally sharing with y'all!

Every year at the beginning of school, each grade has a dinner at someone's house, and this year my grade dinner's theme was LUAU! Now my outfit does not necessarily scream "Hawaii", but I did the best I could.

I'm sure you've seen this shirt before on here because it is actually my favorite piece of clothing ever. It's from C Wonder, Tori Burch's ex-husband's less expensive line of clothing and accessories. It's flowy and light, making it perfect for fall, and it's also fun because it has zebras dancing on it! I mean, how cute is that!

Then there are my leggings, which are also from C Wonder. They're perfect. Not too thick, not too thin, AND just the right amount of leather.

Who ever said that navy and black clash obviously never saw these.

Then there's my favorite part of any outfit: JEWELRY!

I know this post was short and sweet, but I really just wanted to give y'all something. I'm working on a really awesome post for later this week so keep your eyes out for that.

See y'all soon!

Little Black Dress

All women need to have at least one in their closet. We all dread those little white smudges that appear when we pull it on, but we love the way it makes us feel. Simple, classic, timeless, chic...all words that can be used to describe this wonderful piece of clothing: the Little Black Dress.

Made INSANELY popular by the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn and Channel, the Little Black Dress knows no age and NEVER goes out of style! Seriously, you get one and you will wear it for years, especially if it's made to last!

Recently, I purchased a LBD that I'm REALLY excited for because it'll carry me over from fall to winter, and even maybe early spring, and can be worn dressy or casual.

From one of my favorite shops, Madewell, which is owned by JCrew, this wonderful black dress has little velvet polka dots, creating a tone-on-tone look with different fabrics. AND I LOVE IT! The dress is comfortable, form-fitting (but not in the tight way, in the "it hugs all the right places" way), AND IT HAS POCKETS! BIG PLUS!!! (I'm a huge sucker for any dress/skirt with pockets. Don't ask me why, I just love 'em)

For one of my school's formal dinner's I threw this outfit together. The nude heels and Mother of Pearl necklace definitely invoke that Audrey Hepburn spirit. Then there's my favorite statement piece of jewelry: my red sting-ray cuff. I got this baby last summer when I fell in love with it. I wear it ANY chance I get. It sparkles without having any jewels or glitter on it and catches everyone's eye. Oh and that white stuff on it? Yeah, that's the spine. It's GREAT!

I LOVE my opera length Mother of Pearl necklace! I recommend getting the opera length to everyone, because it gives you so many options of how to wear it! I snagged this one for $22 at a consignment shop with matching earrings (not shown). Seriously, I wear it all the time, not just for fancy-shmancy events. Doubled up, single strand, choker, bracelet, you name the style, I've probably worn it like that. I wear it casually, for work, for nicer events. Literally. All. The. TIME. I also like the way the Mother of Pearl looks, with it's slight opacity and it's shimmer, it really adds to the necklace and gives it that extra "unf".

Next up: my new Lily and Laura bracelets. Not only are the glass bead bracelets beautiful, they also promote fair trade in Nepal, so you're helping out a good cause! They really look good stacked with anything. Here, I have them on with a David Yurman bracelet my parents gave me as a birthday present, but I also layer them with my watch, other bracelets, etc.

This is just one of MANY ways you can wear a LBD. Seriously, I encourage you to go out and invest in one that you really like if you haven't already. They're always a great go-to! Especially for a date.... ;)

That's all for now, folks! See you soon!

Green Blazers and Art Deco Rings, These Are a Few of my Favorite Things...

Green, green, green, I love green! I also love blazers. I think that they are so sharp and professional looking. They also do this wonderful thing where they can help hide it when you're wearing brand new skinny jeans that give you a severe muffin-top you don't usually have because they're so darn tight! Isn't that just the worst? Anyway, I digress. I found this really awesome art nouveau ring from ca. 1910's and this Judith Jack Art Deco inspired pin/necklace at a consignment store. Platinum Jacks seal the look together.

Tribal Pants, White Jean Jacket, and Grey Tank

White jean jacket: personal | Top: Madewell grey tank - $30 | Pants :Anama tribal print pant in navy from Century 21 - $29.97  (on sale, value $62) | Bag: gold envelope clutch from Francesca's - $15 | Bracelet: Beaded bracelet from Target - $5 | Ring - personal | Watch: Turquoise and sterling watch from Home Again Design - $170

As the fall quickly approaches, the days are getting cooler in the afternoon. Last week, we had one of the hottest days of the year, and today it was only 70 degrees, overcast, and rainy. While it was quite chilly outside, my work place's AC sometimes doesn't work and it can get really hot. Thus, this outfit was born!

If you have any questions about the items I'm wearing, comment below!

Nautical Oxfords

Okay, so this girl does not usually wear oxfords unless I'm serving at a school function or I'm wearing a pencil skirt. Even then, they are not my favorite thing to wear. Mostly, I think, because for 7th and 8th grade I had to wear either an oxford or polo and khaki or navy skirt for my school uniform, and, after wearing polos every day for three straight years, I was SICK of them! So I wore oxfords every day...for two years....and now I am almost sick of them too...I may have a problem since this has happened twice!

Anyway, I may be willing to start wearing oxfords casually JUST for these because they are so. darn. COOL!

Kiel James Patrick is a company that is new to me (introduced to me by my brother) and, although their stuff is a little pricey, their designs are really cool. And KJP seems like a pretty awesome person (if he's real). I mean, just listen to this opening line for their company bio:

"The inspiration for the Kiel James Patrick brand was brought on by years spent exploring vintage clothing stores, antique shops and friend's attics in search of the age-old quality, style and construction once easily found in American made goods." (for more bio, click on the link above)

I mean, COME ON?! I JUST WANT TO HANG OUT WITH HIM!!!

Anyway, I digress. Here is my top pick for his oxfords:

This top would be so cute just casually with a pair of jeans and a blazer (my favorite accessory), or even dressed up with a skirt. I would wear funky jewels, like maybe a big cocktail ring or an extra-large gold watch. Also, layered bracelets would be a MUST for me! Pop on your favorite sunnies, grab your fav satchel and you're ready to go out for a cruise with your friends with the top down and music turned all the way up!

Next pick from their collection?

This fabulous shirt is TO DIE FOR. I'm ALL about funky patterns, and this one tugs at my heart (and my wallet). It's calling my name, begging me to take it home...*echo* buy me...buy me... *le sigh* I would totally wear this with white shorts/jeans, like in the first picture. Or you could even wear it with one of the obscure colors in the flags, like orange or navy. Would be so cute!!

If only I could afford it all...sadly I need to save up for a car (the ultimate dilemma: to buy clothes or to buy essential life items).

That's all for now, folks!

Fall Fashion: Cream, Rose, Charcoal, and Turquoise

Fall Fashion: Cream, Rose, Charcoal, and Turquoise

American Vintage v neck t shirt / H&M , $46 / Paige Denim / TOMS black boots / Friis & Company green bag, $39 / Nickel free earrings / Michael Kors watch / Natalie B vintage jewelry / Meadowlark bird necklace, $240

This fall, be on the look out for jewel tones and soft metallic colors. Pairing this turquoise bag and cuff with pastels really make them the focus of this outfit. The black blazer gives the flowy cream blouse more structure, as do the dark wash skinny jeans.  This outfit could work for both work and going out with friends!
